Pick 2 to 6 lenses to see the focal range they cover together, where the gaps and overlaps are, and what the kit weighs. The link updates as you go, so you can share a kit.

How it works

Coverage is drawn on a logarithmic scale, the way focal lengths feel in use: 24 to 35 mm is as big a step as 50 to 70 mm. Each lens is a bar across the focal lengths it covers; a prime is a single mark.

Full-frame equivalent: lenses made for a smaller sensor (APS-C, Micro Four Thirds) are shown at the focal length that frames the same on full frame, so a 16–55 mm APS-C zoom appears as 24–83 mm. See the crop factor calculator.

Gaps are places where the next lens starts more than 1.25× beyond the longest focal length covered so far, such as nothing between 35 mm and 70 mm. Smaller steps, like a 24–70 mm zoom and an 85 mm prime, are not counted as gaps.

Overlaps are focal lengths two lenses both cover, including a prime that sits inside a zoom's range. An overlap isn't wrong: a fast prime inside a zoom's range is a common choice.

Totals add up the manufacturer weights. A lens with no known weight is left out and named. The price total adds up manufacturer prices (the list price, or the launch price when no list price is published) and appears only when every lens has one.
