Lens Review: Samyang 16mm F2 ED AS UMC CS
The Samyang 16mm F2 ED AS UMC CS is a manual focus wide-angle prime lens designed for APS-C format DSLR and mirrorless cameras. With a 79.5° angle of view, it provides a 35mm equivalent focal length of approximately 25.6mm. The fast f/2.0 maximum aperture is effective in low-light situations and allows for shallow depth-of-field control. The optical design includes one extra-low dispersion element and two aspherical elements to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortions, resulting in sharp, color-accurate images. Ultra Multi-Coating (UMC) is applied to reduce flare and ghosting, enhancing contrast and color fidelity.
